NASHVILLE – Country music star Carly Pearce is altering her touring schedule after being diagnosed with a heart condition.

The Northern Kentucky native shared today via social media that she is dealing with Pericarditis, which is swelling and irritation of the thin, saclike tissue surrounding the heart.

The condition can cause shop chest pain and other symptoms such as fatigue, coughing, swelling of the legs or feet, low-grade fever, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations.

“I still want to be out on the road,” said Pearce. “It is really important to me, but we have all decided it is in my best interest as I’m healing to alter my shows a little bit. So, if my shows look a little bit different, it is because I have to keep my heart rate under control.”

Pearce added that she is a young, healthy person that exercises and watches what she eats, and that this can happen to anyone.

“I just want to use my platform to tell you to take care of your body and listen to it,” Pearce said.
