Dearborn Co. Plans For Phased Reopening

Reopening plans will begin on Monday, May 11.

(Dearborn Co., Ind.) - Starting Monday, May 11, Dearborn County will begin a phased reopening.

Yesterday at the Board of Commissioners meeting,, the Dearborn County Commissioners extended the Local Emergency declared on March 17 through June 3.

The Commissioners formally adopted Governor Holcomb's "Back on Track Indiana" plan, which uses guidelines to outline the reopening of Dearborn County. Guidelines and the reopening plan may be modified if needed.

Within these guidelines, Dearborn County employees will return to work for their full shifts on Monday, May 11. This will include a "soft" opening of Dearborn County Government facilities.

During the "soft" opening, offices will remain staffed during normal business hours. Public access to all Dearborn County public buildings will be by appointment only. If possible, the public is being asked to continue to conduct business by phone, online, or fax.

Contact an office to see if an appointment would be allowed for your purpose of business. The public is encouraged to contact the office to arrange an appointment in advance.

Dearborn Circuit and Superior Courts, including probation and community correction, are governed by Order(s) issued by the Indiana Supreme Court under Indiana Administrative Rule 17. This order is in place through May 17, but may be extended, in whole or in part, or replaced with a subsequent Order of the Indiana Supreme Court. If you are scheduled to appear in Court, you should appear as ordered unless notified by your attorney or the Court that your appearance is not required.

To be granted access to the Government Center for an approved appointment, you must be medically screened by a nurse and have your temperature taken. If you present symptoms or a fever, you will be denied access.

The public that is permitted to enter must wear a mask. You must bring a mask when you arrive for your appointment. If you do not have access to a mask, Dearborn County will provide one to you. While masks are in limited supply, it is important to bring your own if you have one.

For more information, call the Government Center at (812) 537-1040.
