Deputies: Grass Clippings In Road Caused Motorcycle Crash

By Travis Thayer  (Franklin County, Ind.) – One person was injured following a motorcycle accident in Franklin County. Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on State Road 252 at the intersection of Whitcomb Road around 12:32 p.m. on Saturday. Deputies say Jonathan and Theresa Payne, both of Harrison, Ohio, were traveling separately on their Harley Davidson’s when Theresa lost control of her motorcycle on grass clippings in the roadway. She then collided with the rear of Jonathan’s motorcycle, causing both riders to crash. Theresa was transported via Air Care to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Jonathan refused treatment at the scene. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department, Brookville EMS #2 and Responder 24. Deputies would like to remind citizens not to blow grass clippings into the roadway when mowing their grass due to the extremely hazardous condition it creates for motorists, especially motorcycle riders.
