The two-day event will feature a variety of demos, displays and hands-on activities – including a traveling Smithsonian exhibit – as the town celebrates its past.
According to festival organizers, the theme of this year's event is “Transportation of Yester Years." The event will include a Pop-Up Museum at the Dillsboro Civic Center, Veteran's Walk at Dillsboro Community Park, quilt and art displays, antique farm equipment, a classic car show, special historic demos and displays (including pioneer games and activities), a vintage baseball game, music by the Rigby’s, scavenger hunt, fried chicken dinner and more. Trolley rides will be available at select times to move attendees between parking and activities.
History lovers also won’t want to miss a special traveling Smithsonian Institution “Museum on Main Street” exhibit currently on display at the Dillsboro Branch Library. Entitled Crossroads: Change in Rural America, the special curated exhibit includes interactive displays exploring the themes of community, identity, land use, and managing change, and is open during library hours through October 20. Dillsboro is one of only six locations in the state of Indiana to be selected as an exhibition site.
