The June 30 deadline is quickly approaching!

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Earning a college degree may seem out of reach for low-income Hoosier students but help is available. Families can enroll their students in Indiana's 21st Century Scholars program to receive free tuition at any in-state public college or university for up to four years.

You can enroll your child as a 21st Century Scholar from the time they enter 7th grade to June 30th of their 8th grade year. To get started, go online to Scholars.in.gov/enroll to review the eligibility and income requirements. Once students are in high school, they are no longer eligible for the program.

Students must make a commitment to maintain the Scholar Pledge throughout high school, which requires scholars to earn an overall high school grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and graduate with at least a Core 40 diploma. Students must also commit to not using illegal drugs or alcohol, or breaking the law.

To assist parents and students with enrolling in the program, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education is offering live virtual assistance at 2 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, June 25, and at 6 p.m. (EST) on Monday, June 29. To participate, go to Learn More Indiana's Facebook page at these times to view a live video stream and ask questions.

For many, this program opens up opportunities to afford a college education and achieve their career goals. Students and parents, don't wait to apply. The June 30 deadline is quickly approaching, and those who want to save on college costs can apply at Scholars.in.gov/enroll.
