(Miamitown, Oh.) - Rescue crews recovered a Kentucky man's body from the Great Miami River Thursday night. Ronald Sprecker, 44, of Mayslick, was fishing on the river with family when he decided to wade into the water - for a swim and to cool off - near the Harrison Avenue bridge in Miamitown at around 6:00 p.m. Sprecker was swept away by the current. “This water looks nice and tranquil. It looks very peaceful. It looks refreshing on a day when the temperatures are reaching 95 plus, but you never know what’s right underneath that current," Colerain Township Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Conn told WLWT-TV. The rescue  operation eventually became a recovery search. Sprecker’s body was recovered at around 10:00 p.m., about four hours after he disappeared underwater. Investigators say that drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the accident.
