(St. Leon, Ind.) – Several East Central High School students are seeing gold.
East Central FCCLA competed at the 2021 National Leadership Conference, taking home gold medals in several STAR Events.
Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events are competitive events in which members compete at the region, state and national level.
There are more than 30 STAR events students can choose to compete in demonstrating knowledge and skills and abilities to actively identify an issue concerning families, careers or communities, research the topic, and develop and implement a project to advocate for positive change.
This year, East Central had several Gold Medal winners. They are:
- Haylee Frazier – Career Investigation Level 2
- Kate McGuire – Career Investigation Level 3
- Cassie Callahan and Alex Seubert – Chapter Service Portfolio Level 2
- Becca Tupper and Bella Woodyard – Chapter Service Portfolio Level 3
- Hayley Lewis – Fashion Construction Level 2
- Gracey Lynch – Focus on Children Level 2
- Lara Moster and Olivia Stenger – Focus on Children Level 3
- Maycey Lewis and Kelsey School - Focus on Children Level 3
- Madi Adams, Michelle Batta and Ellie Doll – Interpersonal Communication Level 3
- Emma Green – Leadership Level 3
- Paige Lyness, Emma Wilhelm, Sophie Allen – National Programs in Action Level 3
- Josie Volpenhein and Jayme Pennington – National Programs in Action Level 3
- Jocelyn Inderhees – Promote and Publicize Level 2
- Lacey Kelly, Madison Miller, Kyla Maxwell – Promote and Publicize Level 3
- Maria Deddens, Natalie Klei, Lydia Trabel – Public Policy Advocate Level 3
- Lucy Chenault – Repurpose and Redesign Level 2
- Michaela Smith – Teach and Train Level 3
- Madison Barkley – Professional Presentation Level 2 (Silver Medal)
All of the above students either qualified for the national competition or were an alternate.
