East Central FFA Caps Off Busy Week With Solid Showing At Soils Event

EC FFA has also announced that sophomore Kayla Miles will compete at the National FFA Convention.

(St. Leon, Ind.) - Last week was a busy week for the East Central FFA Chapter.

Thirty-two team members started the week by attending the District 12 Kickoff at South Ripley High School on September 24. Each individual participated in fun games and team building activities, in addition to meeting other FFA members in their district.

On Wednesday, September 26, East Central FFA had 12 members compete in the Area 1 Soils Career Development Event at the Southeast Purdue Ag Center in Butlerville.

EC’s top senior team of Alex Dudley, Madison Shumate, Amelia Hartman and Maria Hartman finished in sixth-place out of 23 teams. The team of Bradley Kolb, Lloyd Darringer and Isaac Hartman placed second in the junior division. Kolb was also EC FFA’s top placing individual finishing third overall.

In other FFA news, sophomore Kayla Miles will compete at the 90th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, October 25-28.

Kayla is the daughter of Tim and Paula Miles of Sunman. She will vie for national honors with nearly 50 FFA members from across the U.S. in the FFA Creed speaking CDE.

Creed speaking is one of 25 career/leadership development event areas, covering jobs skills in everything from communications to mechanics.
