(Friendship, Ind.) – Area residents are being reminded to be diligent and ensure that fires are contained before leaving them unattended.

The reminder comes after Friendship Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire earlier this week.

The fire was found south of Olean at the corner of County Road 750 South and State Road 129.

While a cause was not confirmed, the fire appeared to have started from a burn barrel, according to the fire department.

Firefighters used about 300 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze.
