Former Aurora Farmers Fair Treasurer Arrested for Theft of Fair Funds

Indiana State Police say more than $70,000 of Farmers Fair funds were spent for personal gain.

(Aurora, Ind.) – The former treasurer of the Aurora Farmers Fair has been arrested on a felony theft charge.

According to Indiana State Police, Scott Petty has been charged with one count of Theft over $50,000 (Level 5 Felony).

The charge stems from multiple unauthorized purchases that were allegedly made since 2022 using Farmers Fair funds.

Indiana State Police-Versailles Post began investigating in March of this year when the fair board reported money missing from the Aurora Farmers Fair Bank Accounts.

It was determined that Petty, 54, of Moores Hill, used the Farmers Fair credit card and bank account to pay for personal vacations, bills, car payments, and other miscellaneous items.

In total, he allegedly spent more than $70,000 of the Farmers Fair funds for personal gain.

Petty turned himself in to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on Monday.
