UPDATE: Franklin County Hit and Run Suspect Arrested

An arrest has been made following a hit and run accident in Franklin County.

The Sheriff’s Department announced today the arrest of Cade Barnes, 35, of Cedar Grove. He was arrested on preliminary charges of Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident (Level 6 Felony) and Driving While Suspended Habitual Traffic Violator (Level 6 Felony).

The charges stem from an accident that took place in the 1000 block of Mortashed Road last Saturday.

If convicted of a level 6 felony, Barnes can face up to 2 ½ years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.

Barnes was lodged in the Franklin County Security Center on $1,055 bond.

(Brookville, Ind.) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest.

On Saturday, deputies responded to a personal injury accident on Mortashed Road, just west of State Line Road.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a 2022 Can-Am Spyder was turning into a private drive when the vehicle was struck in the rear by a dark green Chevrolet S-10. The driver of the Spyder was transported to UC Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, the driver of the S-10 fled the scene.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle to have heavy damage on the passenger side, as well as a flat tire and loud exhaust.

The vehicle was last seen on Mueller Road near English Hill Road.
