(Batesville, Ind.) – The Gibson Theatre is seeking to replace all seats in the auditorium.
In a letter to friends and patrons, the owner and operator of the Gibson Theatre is asking community members to make tax-deductible donations to keep the theatre in capable working condition.
Currently, the seats in the auditorium are over 30 years old and need to be replaced.
The Gibson Theatre recently received grants from the Ripley County Community Foundation and the City of Batesville Belterra Funds, in addition to their own fundraising.
Still, another $25,000 is needed to reach the project cost of $52,000.
“Any assistance you can provide for this community project would not only preserve our history and legacy, but will keep current/up-to-date movies, live shows, school programs and library functions accessible to Batesville and local communities. Without this project, we will not be able to continue our free movie programs, school functions, and special needs partnerships,” reads the letter sent out to the community.
