(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Winter X Games gold has been won by a Dearborn County native.
Nick Goepper, 18, grew up in Hidden Valley and you may have even seen him in action at Perfect North Slopes, where he began skiing at a young age.
Goepper, a former East Central High School student, appeared on national television on ESPN Sunday competing in the ski slopestyle event in the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. Goepper earned a score of 94 on his final run to capture the gold medal.
"I've been dreaming of this moment since I was a little kid," Goepper said following his win. "I just got off the phone with my mom and she said, 'Remember when you were really young and you said I want to win the X Games?' And she said, 'I never thought it would happen. And now you're here.' It's the best day of my life."
The win is Goepper’s second X Games medal. He won silver in the same event in 2012 during his first X Games experience.
