The total was the second highest in the history of the program.

(Hamilton County, Oh.) - This past holiday season, Great Parks of Hamilton County’s holiday lights recycling program collected 11,840 pounds of lights, the second largest amount in the history of the annual program.

“The amount of copper wiring and other material collected since the start of this program is now an incredible 27 tons,” said Todd Palmeter, CEO of Great Parks. “We are very appreciative of everyone who has joined us on the path toward greater sustainability for the entire region.”

Once again, Great Parks collaborated with Cohen, which presented a $3,372 check to the park district for the material collected this year. Residents were invited to drop off their unwanted lights from December 1, 2021, through February 1, 2022, at six Great Parks locations. Both LED and traditional bulb string lights were accepted for recycling by Cohen.

Last year’s total of 15,700 pounds of lights recycled is still the largest amount in the program’s eight-year history with Great Parks.
