(Greendale, Ind.) - The City of Greendale helped to bring the construction of a new regional cancer center one step closer to reality with their pledge of $500,000 to the Highpoint Health Foundation’s Hearing, Helping, Healing Campaign.

At a cost of approximately $35 million, the new facility is a joint effort between Highpoint Health and St. Elizabeth Healthcare.  Plans call for the new center to be located within the Greendale city limits, convenient to I-275 and U.S. 50, as well as State Route 1. When completed, it will feature state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and treatment modalities, along with services for cancer management and survivorship. Groundbreaking for the cancer center is scheduled for later this year.

“Greendale is pleased to support the Hearing, Helping, Healing Campaign,” announced Alan K. Weiss, Mayor of the City of Greendale.  “Many of our citizens have been or will be affected by cancer in their lifetime, either by being diagnosed themselves or having a loved one diagnosed with cancer.  By financially supporting the Foundation’s campaign, we are helping to ensure that excellent cancer detection and treatment services are easily accessible to our residents. We look forward to working with both Highpoint Health and its Foundation as they bring this new       state-of-the-art facility to Greendale.”

“The Foundation and hospital are extremely appreciative of the City of Greendale’s significant financial commitment to the Hearing, Helping, Healing Campaign,” stated Jim Deaton, Highpoint Health Foundation President and Lead Gift Co-Chairperson of the campaign.  “Residents of Greendale will benefit not only from having access to exceptional cancer care right in their community, but also from having a high-tech center of healthcare excellence which will draw patients from throughout Southeastern Indiana and nearby communities in Ohio and Kentucky.”

Financial support from businesses, organizations, government entities and individuals from throughout the region is necessary to ensure the success of the campaign.  For more information or to contribute to the Hearing, Helping, Healing Campaign, please contact Sarah Siegrist, Highpoint Health Director of Charitable Development and Fund Raising, at ssiegrist@MyHPH.org, 812/537-8322 or 800/676-5572, ext. 8322.  Foundation and campaign representatives are available to meet one-on-one with individuals or to address organizations and businesses.
