Pat Frey and Gerilyn Jobe, a mother-daughter team, were local residents who both happened to be at a crossroads in their lives. What started as an off-handed “what if” conversation, soon evolved into a more serious discussion about opening a coffee house in the downtown neighborhood. They envisioned a place where people could gather over coffee, slow down for a bit and enjoy the day. After much thought, a lot of encouragement from spouses, and a good dose of prayer, the Coffee Peddlar opened its doors in the fall of 2010……. and the adventure began!! The Coffee Peddlar offers a variety of espresso-based drinks hot, frozen or iced. They also have a great selection of teas, hot & iced, chai and smoothies. With the opening of the newly renovated and expanded space and outdoor courtyard, the Coffee Peddlar has also expanded its menu to include wine! Coupled with live music on weekends, the Coffee Peddlar is sure to become Harrison’s newest destination to kick back and relax. “The Coffee Peddlar has been the catalyst for much of the revitalization in downtown Harrison,” stated Mayor Joel McGuire. “Their investment and vision for the Historic Downtown, has made an impact on other businesses choosing to locate in the Downtown area and sparked a lot of interest in rehabbing historic properties.” Economic Development Director Jennifer Ekey stated “The Coffee Peddlar serves as a meeting place for business and a gathering place for friends. Their commitment to Historic Downtown Harrison is unwavering, as is their commitment to encourage folks to ‘shop local.’ I am really excited for their expansion and look forward to working with them on the next project.” This summer, let the Coffee Peddlar host your bridal shower, birthday party, baby shower, family reunion, anniversary party, graduation party, or celebration of life.
