(Harrison, Oh.) - Harrison Fire Department Station 56 is now known as the Alan R. Kinnett Fire Station.

The station was rededicated in the former fire chief's name on December 2, reports the City of Harrison.

Kinnett served the Harrison Fire Department for 35 years, starting as a volunteer firefighter in 1971. Eight years later, he was appointed chief by then Mayor Harry Rolfes.

Kinnett would oversee the department for more than 27 years. In that time, Fire Station 57 on West Road was constructed on land Kinnett negotiated as a donation through a local developer.

The Station was expanded in 1990 to include a lounge, kitchen and lodging. Station 56 on Harrison Avenue was also expanded to house additional EMT units and a dormitory. This location is now named “The Alan R. Kinnett Fire Station.”

Harrison's two fire stations serve 13,000 residents of Harrison and surrounding communities.
