There are plenty of events to choose from.
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The holidays will kick off in Southeast Indiana this Thanksgiving weekend, as the communities of Lawrenceburg and Aurora prepare to usher in the season.
Ice skating
In downtown Lawrenceburg, the Winter Wonderland Ice Rink will be open to skaters on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12-8pm. Located at Todd Creech Park, the covered rink offers a low admission fee (including skate rental) of $8 for adults, $6 for children 12-and-under, and is free for children under 4.
A Victorian Christmas at Hillforest
Visitors to Aurora can get a taste of “Christmas past” at Hillforest Victorian House Museum, a National Historic Landmark that is all decked out for the season. Regular hours and admission apply.
Small Business Saturday
There will also be lots of great activities taking place throughout the day on Saturday, as both Aurora and Lawrenceburg celebrate “Small Business Saturday,” including merchant open houses, special offers, drawings and more.
Tree lightings
Both Aurora and Lawrenceburg will host their annual Christmas tree lightings on Sunday night, November 26. The City of Lawrenceburg will host holiday music and activities at the Lawrenceburg Event Center beginning at 5:30pm, followed by a special Mayor’s Reception and the City’s official tree lighting at Civic Park. The City of Aurora’s tree lighting will begin at 6pm on Second and Main Streets in the city’s historic downtown, followed by the community’s annual lighted Christmas parade.
