(Bloomington, Ind.) - Police in Bloomington are awaiting DNA test results on bones found in eastern Illinois, wondering if they belong to missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer.
She disappeared ten months ago after a night of drinking and partying with friends at a bar in Bloomington, despite being underage at 20.
Bloomington Police Captain Joe Qualters says the remains being looked at were found March 10 about 100 miles west of the IU campus in a wooded area near Newton, Illinois.
The remains are among at least ten bodies found in Bloomington and Indianapolis that police had thought could be Lauren Spierer since she vanished.
On Tuesday, Lauren’s mother, father, and sister posted a message on the website dedicated to finding her, www.FindLauren.com.
“Always in our hearts. Always in our thoughts. NEVER giving up. We love you, Lauren. Mom, Dad and Rebecca,” the message said.
