IHSAA Sectional Meet at Connersville

Connersville boys and girls took first place in the team standings at Tuesday’s sectional meet on their home course. Franklin County boys finished 8th while the Wildcat girls checked in 6th.

 

 

IHSAA Sectional Meet at South Dearborn

South Dearborn boys and Oldenburg Academy girls each became sectional champions during the postseason meet Tuesday in Aurora.

 

For the boys, Oldenburg Academy finished second, Batesville third, and East Central fourth in the team standings. Each of those teams will participate in Saturday’s regional at Greensburg.

 

The top five male individuals included three South Dearborn runners. SD’s Joe Rector crossed the finish line first with a time of 16:42. Rector was followed by Oldenburg’s Curtis Eckstein (17:01), South Dearborn’s David Sander (17:24), South Ripley’s Austin Allen (17:34), and SD’s Dustin Beach (17:41). Other male individuals advancing to regionals included South Ripley’s Austin Allen, Michael Bradley and J.C. Boyken; South Decatur’s Justyn Clark; Rising Sun’s Matt Yocum, Briar Miller and Zach Martini; Jac-Cen-Del’s Christopher Kissel; and North Decatur’s Brady Holloway and Arek Holloway.

 

In the girls’ portion of the meet, Oldenburg’s first place team finish was followed by Batesville, Greensburg, South Dearborn, and East Central – all five advancing to the regional round at Greensburg.

 

Individually, Oldenburg’s Sarah Billingsley (18:32.1) took the gold, followed by North Decatur’s Megan Hoover (19:52.1), Oldenburg teammate Meredith Maier (20:06.4), Rising Sun’s Kinzie Scott (20:10.9), and Greensburg’s Shelby Pake (20:18.5). Other girls going to regionals are North Decatur’s Megan Hoover; Rising Sun’s Kinzie Scott and Sydney White; Jac-Cen-Del’s Jenna Hughes, Kayla Bowling and Kelsey Bowling; South Decatur’s Ashley Hamilton; South Ripley’s Isabella Gramaglia; Lawrenceburg’s Hannah Faulkner; and Milan’s Kristen Honeycutt.

 

 

IHSAA Sectional Meet at Southwestern (Hanover)

Madison won the IHSAA Boys Cross Country Meet at Hanover College last evening. The Cubs out distanced 2ndplace Jennings Co. by just 12 points. Switzerland Co. was 5th, Southwestern  9th and Shawe 10th. Jonah Woods of Jennings Co. was Sectional Champion. Quenton White was Madison’s first runner in 4th. Braden Burke for Switzerland Co. was 10th. Josiah Lawson for Southwestern was 28th and Skip Maas was 53rd for Shawe. Madison and Switzerland Co. advance as well as Lawson from Southwestern to the IHSAA Regional on Saturday at Brown County.  

 

Silver Creek won the girls IHSAA Cross Country Sectional with Madison 2nd. Southwestern finished 3rd just 2 points behind the Lady Cubs. Switzerland Co. was 5th .  Mackinzie Couch of Silver Creek was the Sectional Champion. Whitney Shirmer of Switzerland Co. was 5th. Ashlee Allen of Madison 9th, Savannah Reuda of Southwestern  12th and Hannah Storm of Shawe was finished 33rd. Madison, Southwestern and Switzerland Co. advance as well as Storm for Shawe to the IHSAA Regional on Saturday at Brown County.
