The annual trip featured a trip to the Grand Ole Opry

NASHVILLE - The Milan High School Band celebrated their year with the annual band tour. This year, explored Nashville, Tennessee with many fun activities.
Last Wednesday, the band enjoyed going to Circus Word for some bowling and laser tag. With some lunch at Paula Deen’s Family Restaurant and some shopping at Opry Mills Mall. Then, they headed to RCA Studio B “The Home of A Thousand Hits” to get a tour and record two of
their songs. For dinner, they enjoyed Blake Shelton’s Ole Red restaurant with some line dancing taught by senior band member, Ava Honnert.
On Thursday morning, the members enjoyed performing their goodwill concerts at Nashville nursing homes and rehabilitation centers: The Opal of Music City, The Village of Bellevue, and Lakeshore’s The Meadows. Many residents were amazed by their travel and enjoyed the songs performed. They also honored veterans while playing Armed Forces Salute to the residents. In the evening, they went to the Grand Ole Opry for the show featuring Mandy Barnett, Carlene Carter, Chapel Hart, the Gatlin Brothers, and special artist Pam Tillis. Bill Cody mentioned the Milan HS band Wednesday night as well as honored senior band member, Sarah Lillis, as a veteran.
On Friday morning, the band enjoyed a backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry accompanied by Jamie Johnson from the Bluegrass group “The Grascals” from Milan. Finally, to round out their trip, they ate lunch on General Jackson’s Boat Cruise before heading home. Junior, Natalie Prather says, “This experience created a lot of joy for those who want to learn more about music. Many of us don’t get to experience trips like this with our families, so why not our band family.”
