(Moores Hill, Ind.) - A Moores Hill couple has made a generous donation to help the homeless.

Mariea and Larry Waller signed their trailer over to the Heart House on Tuesday afternoon. The Heart House is a 72-bed homeless shelter serving individuals and families in Dearborn County and surrounding counties of Franklin, Ohio, Switzerland, and Ripley.

The Heart House not only provides a warm place to sleep and three meals a day, but they have also implemented a personal redevelopment program that assists residents in developing life skills.

Executive director Wyatt Sampson says those who go through the program and show an effort to better their lives and get back on track will have an opportunity to move into the trailer.

"It's kind of hard to find words for it, how exciting it is and how honored Heart House is to be receiving this," said Sampson. "It's amazing."

Mariea Waller was inspired to do something charitable following the death of her son, Ricky Lee Clark Sr.

"I just want to give this to the Heart House for the homeless in the name of my son that passed away December 22, said Mariea Waller. "He would want me to do this, and I am honored to do this because I am fortunate to do this and there's people that are not. So, to the Heart House, I offer you this trailer."

The Wallers have owned the trailer for about six years, but recently purchased a new home.

Mariea tells Eagle Country 99.3 that the trailer is furnished, and comes with updates to the roof, hot water heater, and deck.

When asked about receiving a similar donation in the future, Sampson said, "If you've got it to give, there are a lot of great people in need. I get to work with them every day. Just some of the most special people that deserve another chance and need some guidance. If you've got it to give, please do."

Donations don't always have to come in the size of a home. Heart House accepts donations daily from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. For more information, visit Heart House Inc. | Facebook
