(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - For the first time, Starbucks coffee fans can buy their favorite cup of joe in Dearborn County. The Walnut Street Café at the Lawrenceburg Event Center and Doubletree by Hilton hotel opened on Monday, says Greg Tufts, director of food and beverage at Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg. The casino operates the event center. While not officially a Starbucks coffee shop, the café does brew and sell many of Starbucks’ offerings. Pastries are also available. The Walnut Street Café joins a community of downtown Lawrenceburg coffee shops, including Beeb’s & Bub’s on West High Street, Annie’s Classics Café at the Lawrenceburg Public Library, and Dunkin Donuts on Eads Parkway. The new event center is hosting two events Thursday. The Indiana Gaming Commission is hosting a meeting for gaming agents this morning and afternoon. This evening, the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner and meeting will take place in one of the facility’s ballrooms. Country music star Lorrie Morgan has announced a special Christmas dinner and acoustic concert at the Lawrenceburg Event Center on Friday, December 12 at 8:00 p.m. The City of Lawrenceburg is inviting the public to check out the $55 million event center and hotel during an open house on Saturday, November 29 from 1:30-5:30 p.m. The open house will include the lighting of the city Christmas tree at the clock tower on the Ohio River levee.
