Pedestrian Killed in Houston Road Accident

(Florence, Ky.) - A pedestrian was killed in an accident on Houston Road in Florence early Thursday morning. 

Florence Police responded to the crash near Merchants Street around 12:29 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a passenger car had collided with a pedestrian in the left southbound lane on Houston Road.

Through investigation, it was discovered that the Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Houston Road in the left lane as the pedestrian was crossing Houston Road. The Honda Civic was unable to stop before colliding with the pedestrian.

Florence EMS arrived on scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased from his injuries. The pedestrian has been identified as Carl Ickes, 65 years old, of Commerce Township, MI.

The driver of the Honda Civic did not sustain any injuries. 

The accident remains under investigation.
