(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Indiana Governor Mike Pence is planning to start a state-run, taxpayer funded news outlet. The Indianapolis Star obtained a memo to state department communications directors detailing the news service. The state-run website will be called JustIN and will launch in February. JustIN will feature pre-written stories that range from "straightforward news to lighter features" and will be available to Indiana media for republication. A spokesman for Pence says the website will be similar to the current online calendar of state news releases which are frequently distributed online and by email to news organizations, but with a new design. After the Star story broke, the governor sent a tweet out Monday evening:
This is State of IN's calendar for press releases: http://t.co/OuLPEOkXqQ. The #JustIN website will offer the same service with a new look.
