(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The alleged theft of thousands of dollars worth of drainage pipe from a Lawrenceburg work site has a Florida resident facing charges.
Marc Shawn Seevers, 58, of Titusville, Florida, was arrested August 4 on a charge of Theft (level 6 felony).
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Lawrenceburg Police on August 6, an officer was called to investigate the pipe theft at Tanners Creek Development LLC. The site of the former Tanners Creek Power Plant is being prepared for redevelopment by the company.
The site superintendent told police that an employee witnessed a black truck with a gooseneck trailer on the site after hours being loaded with drain pipe.
The same employee later came across an online classified ad on Craigslist.com with a photo of the pipe for sale. The cell phone number on the ad was that of Seevers.
Police interviewed Seevers, who allegedly said that he was selling the pipe personally under an agreement with the former site superintendent to repay himself for parts he had purchased for company equipment.
The former site manager told police that Seevers had already been reimbursed for purchasing equipment for the business.
Seevers allegdly claimed he sold about 20 pieces of drain pipe. The value of the pipe is estimated as high as $200 each piece.
