Police Arrest 30 in Drug Round-Up

(Carrollton, Ky.) – Law enforcement officers from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carrollton Police Department and Kentucky State Police began undercover drug investigations in July 2011 and concluded the undercover buys in January 2012. Their efforts resulted in the arrest of 30 people in a round-up on Wednesday, February 8.

“Our focus has been to clean up the streets of Carroll County and get rid of these drug traffickers and people who are bringing these drugs into Carroll County,” Sheriff Jamie Kinman said.

The undercover investigation by the Sheriff’s office included the purchase of approximately 150 pills and nine-tenths of a gram of heroin. The Hydrocodone, Oxycodone and Oxycontin pills are valued at $1,400. The heroin was valued at $300. (The Kentucky State Police can provide information on their portion of the investigation.)

Sheriff Kinman noted that drugs are the root of numerous thefts and burglaries within the county.

“We will get more. This is just the beginning,” Sheriff Kinman said. “We will continue to fight this problem.”

Kinman noted that the public has helped fight the drug problem by providing information through the anonymous tips portion of the sheriff’s office website, www.carrollcountykysheriff.com. The buys, Kinman noted, were with the help of anonymous tips and confidential informants.

“The message to the drug dealers and users is that we are not done,” Kinman said. “It will not be safe for drug dealers and users to be in Carroll County and continue what they are doing.”

All of those arrested in today’s roundup were indicted by a Carroll County grand jury on Monday, February 6. They are all lodged at the Carroll County detention center.
