(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – As the investigation continues into the death of a Lawrenceburg man, it remains unclear whether his roommate will face a murder charge.

David Schwede told Lawrenceburg Police detectives on November 9 that he had killed John Chenault after a physical altercation inside the apartment the two men shared on Mountain Way.

Schwede, 47, allegedly took nearly two days to report the death of his 50-year-old roommate who was partly deaf, blind, and a diabetic.

He remains held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on charges of Neglect of a Dependant, False Reporting, and Failure to Report a Dead Body.

Toxicology results have come back on Chenault, said Dearborn County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard.

“The tests didn’t reveal any presence of drugs in his system,” said Negangard.

The prosecutor said an official cause of Chenault’s death has yet to be determined by a pathologist and his office is not looking to file any additional charges at this time.
