A total of 2,020 pounds has been recalled.
(Chicago, Ill.) - If you have picked up raw ground beef at the grocery store within the last month, it might be part of a large recall.
Amity Packing Company Inc., a packing company out of Chicago, has recalled 2,020 pounds of raw ground beef products that could be contaminated by “thin, pliable plastic.”.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Friday, January 24, that some of the products had been shipped to local areas including Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio among many other states.
This problem was found when two consumers reported clear, thin pliable plastic was found in Pre Brands LLC. ground beef.
Possible contaminated products are identified as 1-lb. vacuum-packed, packages containing “Pre 95% LEAN/5% FAT GROUND BEEF” with lot code “0060,” case code “11402” and USE/FREEZE BY date of “01/31/2020” on the product label. The products subject to recall have an establishment number of “EST. 6916” printed on the right, front side of the package.
Since these products were produced at the beginning of the month, January 6, FSIS is concerned that some could already by in your fridge or freezer. If you find that you have purchased these products, do not consume them. You should either throw the products away or return them where purchased.
There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.
