(Batesville, Ind.) - A once popular restaurant in Batesville may soon reopen. The Batesville Herald Tribune reports that The Sherman House is in the process of being sold, renovated, and reopened. An unnamed group of investors is looking to acquire the historic restaurant, Batesville Economic Development Commission president Andy Saner said at a commission meeting Friday. Mayor Mike Bettice, a member of the BEDC, said the future owners “have been very focused on making sure there is a marketing plan that includes Batesville and the Sherman House.” The Sherman House has been closed since January of 2015, when owner Doug Bessler made a “very difficult decision” not to reopen the establishment he had owned for 10 years. The restaurant and inn first opened as The Brinkman House in 1865. RELATED STORIES: Report: Investors Seeking Incentives To Reopen Sherman House Sherman House Restaurant Won’t Reopen
