(Batesville, Ind.) - On March 4th, 2021, the Ripley County Democrats met virtually to elect a new central committee. This election is held every four years according to state party rules. By a unanimous vote, Paul Satchwill was elected as the new Chairman of the Ripley County Democrats. Satchwill is an Indiana native, growing up in Dearborn County and attending Indiana University as an English Education major. Satchwill currently teaches and lives in Batesville and has been heavily involved in the local community since beginning his career there in 2015. His community involvements include serving on the board of the Batesville Area Arts Council and serving as a committee chair of the Star Spangled Symphony, among many others.
Satchwill’s political experiences include running for Batesville city council in 2019 and volunteering on Dr. Woody Myers’ gubernatorial campaign in 2020. Satchwill is also an alumnus of the Emerging Leaders Project, an Indiana-based program that engages and activates up-and-coming Hoosier leaders.
“With grandparents who served in local politics for years, I am excited and honored to continue their legacy,” Satchwill says. “As a precinct chair and also a candidate, I have spent a great amount of time getting to know the needs and the people of my community. I look forward to learning more about Ripley County in this role.” Satchwill says the he is excited to serve as the next party chair, and hopes to make a difference in Ripley County.
