(Rising Sun, Ind.) - A dedication ceremony for the newly constructed Rising Sun Riverfront Veterans Memorial, located in Rising Sun, Indiana, will be held on Saturday, August 4th at 3 p.m.

The Memorial is built around the Veteran’s Clock Tower, located at the cross section of Second Street and South Front Street in Rising Sun, Indiana.

This Veterans Memorial was created to honor the sacrifice and selfless service of the brave men and women from Rising Sun/Ohio County who have served our country.

The public is encouraged to come out and take part in this dedication.

Immediately following the ceremony, those in attendance will be invited back to Post 59 (110 Main St #1, Rising Sun, IN 47040) for cake and punch.

The Riverfront Veterans Memorial project started as an idea from Legionnaire, Larry Young, from Post 59.  The post eventually adopted this project as their own and will act as the care takers for this Memorial. It has taken approximately 3 years to get the approval to complete.

The Riverfront Veterans Memorial was funded by the American Legion Post #59, Rising Sun Regional Foundation, Ohio County Community Foundation, Ohio Co. Economic Development Committee, Ohio County Commissioners and Councilman and Rising Sun City Council.

The memorial stones placed at the site were purchased by private citizens.
