Rising Sun Man Arrested Following Hit and Run Accident

The accident took place last month on State Road 56.

(Switzerland County, Ind.) – An arrest has been made following a hit-and-run accident that occurred last month.

Switzerland County Sheriff Brian Morton recently announced the arrest of John W. Hayes, 19, of Rising Sun. Hayes was arrested last Friday on a warrant issued by the Switzerland Circuit Court.

He is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felonies).

Hayes was released from Switzerland County Jail after posting $600 cash bond.

The accident Hayes was allegedly involved in took place on March 12, when a pickup truck collided with a bicyclist on State Road 56 near the Switzerland and Ohio county line.
