Bill Marksberry and Branden Roeder
(Rising Sun, Ind.) – The race for Mayor of Rising Sun could be settled once and for all next week.
Twenty-nine-year-old Republican Branden Roeder defeated Democrat incumbent Bill Marksberry in the November 8 city election by just five votes. Marksberry petitioned for a recount with the Ohio County Clerk’s Office on November 19.
Ohio Circuit Court Judge James Humphrey set the time and place for the recount on Thursday, said Ohio County Clerk of Courts Annie Jo Jackson. It will be performed Wednesday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the first floor meeting room at the Ohio County Courthouse in Rising Sun.
Humphrey appointed a three member recount commission including Republican April Hautman, Democrat Mick Liggett, and Ross Roberson, a voting machine technician with Harp Election Services.
All four of the precincts used in the November 8 municipal election in Rising Sun will be recounted by the commission members.
Jackson said the recount will be open to the public. Roeder and Marksberry are allowed to attend.
