Rising Sun’s Halloween Activities & Parade Announced

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - Ohio County Tourism is pleased to announce the Halloween activities taking place across Rising Sun on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

Rising Sun High School’s Shiner Pride Marching Band will present the 2023 Halloween Ghoulish Golf Cart & Vehicle Parade. Line-up is at 4:30 p.m. at Rising Sun High School, located at 210 Henrietta Street in Rising Sun. Led by the “Zombie” Marching Band, the parade leaves promptly at 5:00 p.m.

There is a $10 entry fee for all carts, vehicles and floats entering the parade, with the money going to the high school marching band as a fundraiser.

All entrants must pre-register by Friday, October 27 at 5:00 p.m. Entry forms are available through the band and at the Visitors Center, 217 N. High Street in Rising Sun on Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m-4:30 p.m. Applications can be downloaded from the enjoyrisingsun.com website. Click on the “News” tab and scroll down to the parade information for the link.

The parade route is to be announced.

Prizes awarded include: $100 First, $75 Second, and $50 Third places. The parade judge will be Tony Moore, previous illustrator of the Walking Dead comic series.

Cash prizes for costumed walkers will also be presented in the following categories: Most Unique, Funniest, Prettiest, Scariest, and Family. Awards include $20 for First Place, $10 Second Place, and $5 for Third. No pre-registration or entry fee required.

The City of Rising Sun’s Trick or Treat will take place on Tuesday, October 31, from 6-8 p.m. after the parade. Trunk or Treat’s will be held at the same times at the Rising Sun Church of Christ at 315 N. High Street, and the Rising Sun Methodist Church, located at 110 S. Walnut Street. The 4-H Purdue Extension Office at 412 Main Street will host a haunted house.

A Track or Treat will take place at the High School track field, located at 120 S. Henrietta Street in Rising Sun.
