Son/Grandson, Girlfriend Charged With Aurora Double Murder

By Mike Perleberg (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The son and grandson of double homicide victims Faith Craig and Walter Bryant, Jr., as well as his girlfriend, have been charged with the murders. Craig, 58, and Bryant, 78, were discovered dead inside their home on Douglas Drive in Aurora on January 19 after deputies went there to perform a welfare check. Investigators quickly deemed the deaths a double homicide. On Monday, Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens announced formal charges have been filed in Dearborn Circuit Court against two suspects: Cody Wayne Booth and his girlfriend Margie Lynn Thompson. They are each charged with two counts of Murder, two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, two counts of Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Booth, 28, is the son and grandson of Craig and Bryant. Deddens and Indiana State Police are also sharing more about what officers found inside the victims’ home. Officers who entered the home found Bryant lying at the bottom of the home’s basement stairs. A preliminary autopsy report shows that Bryant sustained blunt force trauma to his head in addition to stab wounds. Craig has also found in the basement. She also died from multiple stab wounds. Booth and Thompson were missing from the home. They were found by police in Pulaski County, Kentucky the following day, January 20, driving Walter Bryant’s vehicle on Kentucky Highway 80. Booth was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for parole violation in Kentucky. Walter Bryant, Jr. and Faith Craig were murdered in their Aurora home. Photos provided. Booth remains held in jail in Pulaski County. Deddens said he will be extradited back to Indiana on the newly filed murder warrant. Thompson, 47, was taken into custody on Friday, January 26, when she was booked into jail at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on that date. She is due to make her initial appearance before Judge James D. Humphrey in Dearborn Circuit Court on Monday, January 29 at 1:30 p.m. A search of court records shows that Booth and Thompson had been residents of Bellaire Village Apartments in Lawrenceburg until they were evicted from their apartment for non-payment of rent. They were removed from the apartment in December. It is unclear where they had been living since being evicted. Booth has criminal convictions dating back to at least 2009 in Dearborn County. He has been convicted of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Receiving Stolen Property, and Conspiracy to Commit Theft. He served six months in prison in 2011 and 2012 before violating probation and serving another six months behind bars in 2013 and 2014.
