South Dearborn Middle Schoolers Join National Junior Honor Society

23 high-achieving students were inducted into the NJHS on Wednesday.

(Aurora, Ind.) - Twenty-three students from South Dearborn Middle School were inducted as new members of the National Junior Honor Society in a ceremony held at the school on May 16, 2018. Members were selected by the chapter’s faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship, and character.

Students inducted were: Izabella Bear, Arianna Brown, Max Burger, Emma Cesene, Kendra Collins, Waylon Cull, Lillie Davis, Kiersten Dixon, Makayla Dufour-Petty, Hayden Fox, Adam Gainor, Darci Garibay, Makayla Hiltenbeitel, Emma Kochert, Danielle Lusby, Alyvia Percival, Emma Seaver, Grace Stoup, Macie Teke, Leroy Tice, Brooklynn Ward, Autrey Watkins, Collin Wilson, and Aubrey Young.

Current 8th-grade members are: Tayler Benham, Taylor Black, Shelby Brandt, Alyssa Brown, Nathaniel Cornell, Ashton Cotton, Brayson Craig, Bailey Eaves, Delaney Ems, Kaitlyn Fischer, Jackson Goodall, Corey Hastings, Bentley Hinkle, Kara Ickenroth, Alexander Kemper, Andrew Kemper, Abigail Kreimer, Baileigh Lack, Jocelynn Matos, Isaiah Otto, Regan Reercy, Avery Potraffke, Arissa Riley, Kristin Roark, Zoe Ross, Karygan Selmeyer, and Emma Traue.

South Dearborn Middle School is very proud to recognize these outstanding members of the student body. National Junior Honor Society members are chosen for and then expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community. The South Dearborn Middle School chapter has been active for 21 years. Throughout the year, members of the chapter serve as role models for other students.  In addition to the strong academic records which established their eligibility for membership, the chapter members are leaders in many student organizations and serve their school and community through many activities including being able to donate food items to the Dearborn County Clearinghouse and help with the SEI Community Gardens. They continue to adopt the highway in front of the school so that school pride will remain high. This year, the NJHS continues its focus on academic excellence and social service.  The chapter members are proud of their record of accomplishment and welcome the new inductees as NJHS members.

The National Junior Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for middle school students. There are chapters in more than 7,500 middle schools and, since 1929, millions of students have been selected for membership. NJHS is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
