(Aurora, Ind.) – For the first time in 15 years, the league formally known as Aurora Little League has a new president.

South Dearborn Youth Baseball and Softball (SDYBS) recently announced Brad Disbro as its president. The league also appointed the following individuals to serve in various roles:

  • Josh Haring – Vice President
  • Thomas Cheek – Secretary
  • Kelly Roberts – Treasurer
  • John Hertel – Board Member
  • Cassie Haring – Board Member
  • Brandon Roberts – Board Member
  • Tasha Disbro – Board Member

South Dearborn Youth Baseball and Softball is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship through baseball and softball. It is the league’s goal to foster an environment where every player has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed on and off the field.

One of the biggest goals for the 2025 season is to improve field conditions. Board member Tasha Disbro tells Eagle Country 99.3 that the league has been pricing materials to rebuild the pitcher’s mounds and improve lighting and field conditions, which includes how to combat yearly floods.

A group of volunteers plan to build a roof on the Field 3 dugout. That project is expected to be completed by the state of the 2025 season.

Concessions is another area that could be improved. Disbro says they would like to add more kid friendly items in addition to items for parents that are coming to games straight from work. Another exciting development is making Opening Day an all-day event again.

“The biggest thing people can expect is complete transparency with what is happening, what we would like to happen, and where they funds are going. We want the league back to where it was when we played. It was something to be proud of. Our lists of wants are long. We are focusing on the need right now things. Our fields need to be safe to play on,” said Disbro.

Community members can get involved by donating baseball and softball items that are in good condition to ensure all players will have necessary equipment for the next season. Items needed include gloves, cleats, pants, etc.

The hope is that with enough donations, the league can have a free store for families that need a little extra help.

When you visit the Aurora Farmers Fair this October, SDYBS will have a booth set up where you can meet the new board members. They will also be raffling off a hand-crafted oak hope chest in memory of Amy and Jenny Cotton.

The league will be donating a percentage of the proceeds to the Jenny Cotton Memorial Scholarship.
