Southeastern Indiana Volleyball Standouts Show Out At Indianapolis Competition

Photo provided. (Batesville, Ind.) – A southeastern Indiana-based volleyball club recently sent two teams to a big-time competition in Indianapolis. Southeastern Indiana Volleyball (SEIVB) announced Tuesday that two of its elite teams competed at the Nike Mideast Qualifier (MEQ) on March 25-27 and March 31-April 2 at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Batesville-based volleyball club is represented by girls from the following area schools: Batesville, Oldenburg Academy, East Central, Lawrenceburg, Greensburg, North Decatur, Jennings County and Jac-Cen-Del. The SEIVB 17-Thunderkats advanced easily to the gold medal bracket after finishing first in two separate rounds of pool play. The Thunderkats would go on to finish 5th overall out of 30 teams with a 5-2 record. Team members include: Hannah Johnson (East Central), Baylee Blackburn (Lawrenceburg), Morgan Meyer (Batesville), Kelsey Lang (Lawrenceburg), Mackenzie Ewing (East Central), Emma McPeak (Jennings County), Bailey Grunkemeyer (East Central), Sarah Bowman (North Decatur), Bailey Meyer (Greensburg), Ashlynn Meyer (Greensburg) and Katherine Cook (Batesville). Photo provided. SEIVB’s second team, the 15-Sharks also advanced to the gold medal bracket after two successful days of pool play. The team even had the opportunity to play near midfield at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Sharks eventually finished 3rd overall out of 32 teams, going 7-1 over the weekend. The 15-Sharks include: Kylie Laker (Batesville) Erika Kramer (North Decatur), Anna West (Greensburg), Mary West (Greensburg), Macy Prickel (Batesville), Abigail Broadwater (Jac-Cen-Del), Emma Sandford (Lawrenceburg), Alexa Miles (Oldenburg Academy) and Brilan McCory (East Central. They are coached by Gerald Laker and Emily Egbers. Both SEIVB teams accomplished the highest finishes of any teams in club history while competing against some of the best teams from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Illinois and Florida.
