(Aurora, Ind.) - Part of State Road 56 through downtown Aurora is going to be closed the week of August 26th through 30th.
Aurora city manager Guinevere Emery says work for a sewer project by Dave O’Mara Contracting Inc. will require the intersection of Judiciary and Second streets to close Monday, August 26 starting at 8:00 a.m. That section of State Road 56 won’t reopen until Friday, August 30 around noon.
Signs for a short detour will be posted. Traffic will still be able to access Aurora Tire Center, however, no thru-traffic will be allowed through the construction zone.
Emery said crews must reconstruct a sewer manhole in the Judiciary and Second intersection. The work is part of the $492,370 Weather Storage Basin project. The project is necessitated by the city’s agreed order with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to eliminate combined sewer overflow areas.
“The City of Aurora reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker, as well as, pedestrian safety when driving thru an active construction zone,” says Emery.
