Two Arrested after Vehicle Pursuit

(Franklin County, Ind.) - On Thursday, March 7th, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Franklin County Communications Center received a 911 call, reporting that the occupants of a vehicle were involved in a domestic dispute. The caller reported that the vehicle was traveling westbound on U.S. 52, from the West Harrison area. Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies located the vehicle on U.S. 52, east of Brookville.

Deputies attempted to initiate a vehicle stop to investigate the original domestic disturbance complaint. The driver, Jamie Lynn Benoit, age 34 of Cleves, Ohio, lead officers in a pursuit. Benoit stopped in the area of 5th Street and Short Street in Brookville, where Deputies took her into custody without further incident.

Benoit was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement as a level 6 felony, Neglect of a Dependent as a level 6 felony, Possession of Marijuana as a class B misdemeanor, and a warrant out of Ohio for Receiving Stolen Property. Benoit was lodged in the Franklin County Security Center in lieu of $2,055 bond.

The vehicle’s passenger, Matthew Joseph Hubbard, age 27 of Cincinnati, Ohio, was arrested on the charge of Possession of Marijuana as a class B misdemeanor. Hubbard was taken to the Franklin County Security Center where he was released on his own recognizance.

A one-year old child that was in the vehicle, was taken into the custody of the Department of Child Services. Deputies indicated that speeds did not exceed 40 MPH. Deputies continue to investigate and more charges could be pending. Deputies were assisted by the Brookville Police Department.
