"We are extremely grateful to play a part in healing the Southeast Indiana community."

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - Southeast Indiana non-profits helping residents recover from COVID-19 fallout will receive relief help from United Way of Greater Cincinnati Southeast Indiana.

The relief – made possible by a $300,000 COVID-19 Economic Relief Initiative Grant from Lily Endowment, Inc. and a partnership with Indiana United Ways, a state professional association – will be issued to agencies helping residents meet basic needs and deal with emerging COVID-19 related issues.

“Our goal with these funds is to ensure our community stays strong,” said Karen Snyder, area center director of United Way of Greater Cincinnati Southeast Indiana, which serves Dearborn and Ohio counties. “Agencies are struggling. Our community is struggling. We will support them. United is the way to respond, recover and revitalize.”

Moira Weir, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Cincinnati, thanked Lily Endowment for investing in a UWGC community.

“COVID-19 has knocked people and agencies throughout our 10-county service area into a freefall from which some may never recover,” Weir said. “This help from the Lily Foundation could be the jolt that many need to lift them to recovery and revitalization. We are extremely grateful to play a part in healing the Southeast Indiana community.”

Money will be distributed to non-profits through an application process. To be eligible, the non-profit must:

  • be recognized by the IRS as a non-profit under IRS code 501(c)3.
  • serve residents in Dearborn and/or Ohio Counties.
  • have an emergency organizational need or a process to provide direct individual assistance for emergency needs.
  • be able to complete reporting requirements on a monthly basis until funds are expended.

Two rounds of funding are expected. Applications for the first round will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 21, with decisions by Sept. 10. The second round of funding is yet to be determined.

Non-profits can apply through Snyder at Karen.Snyder@uwgc.org. Please note “Covid-19 Grant Application Request” in the subject line.
