UPDATE: Driver Still At-Large After High Speed Chase Through Ind., Oh.

Update posted August 26 at 7:28 a.m.:  A driver escaped on foot after leading police in Indiana and Ohio on a high speed vehicle chase Monday afternoon. The situation began with a report of scrap metal being stolen by two men in a U-Haul pickup truck from a construction business on Tower Road in Lawrenceburg. The pickup truck had not been stolen, however, the scrap metal that filled its bed may have been. The driver fled when police attempted to stop the truck on US 50 in Lawrenceburg. The chase reportedly reached more than 100 MPH on I-275. Police eventually tracked the fleeing pickup to Congress Green Road near Harrison State Park in North Bend, where the driver had either wrecked or stopped. The passenger was taken into custody soon afterwards. The driver ran off. He remains at-large after eluding a number of police, K9 units, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office helicopter which surrounded the area. No names have been released by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, who continue to investigate. Nobody was injured in the chase, according to the sheriff’s office.   Update posted Monday, August 25 at 4:41 p.m.: Police including the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Lawrenceburg Police, Greendale Police, Harrison Police, North Bend Police and Cleves Police have set up a perimeter in an attempt to capture the at-large suspect. The perimeter are includes the President William Henry Harrison Tomb. One suspect, a white male, has been caught at Congress Green Road and it appeared he was being questioned by investigators.   Original story posted Monday, August 25 at 3:28 p.m.: (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A high speed pursuit of a reportedly stolen moving van ended with a crash near North Bend Monday afternoon, but one of the two occupants is still at-large. A report was received of a stolen moving van from a construction business on Tower Road in Lawrenceburg just before 3:00 p.m. Police caught up with the vehicle on U.S. 50, but the driver sped off. The pursuit at times reached more than 100 MPH as it continued onto I-275 towards Ohio, then exiting onto Kilby Road. The chase reached U.S. 50 again before the alleged thieves drove to the area of Shawnee Lookout Park. The chase ended with a crash on Congress Green Road in North Bend about 15 minutes after it started. The passenger was taken into custody, according to dispatchers, but the driver fled on foot. Police are currently searching the Cleves and North Bend areas for a male suspect. Stay tuned to Eagle 99.3 for the latest on this story.
