UPDATE: Skyline Chili Owner Dishes On Planned Brookville Restaurant

By Mike Perleberg Image by Mike Perleberg, Eagle Country 99.3 Update published Friday, December 1: The Deddens family has been a big supporter of local schools in northern Dearborn County through their Skyline Chili restaurant in St. Leon. Dave Deddens plans to show similar support for the schools and community in Brookville through a newly announced Skyline Chili there. "I guess I have to buy blue, don't I?" Deddens tells Eagle Country 99.3, referring to Franklin County High School's colors. Earlier this week, the Deddens announced plans to open a new chili parlor at the former Goldfinch Restaurant on U.S. 52/Main Street. The new Brookville restaurant will create between 50 and 60 jobs. Hiring for the full- and part-time jobs may start as soon as January. Deddens says those employees will be trained at the St. Leon location. Deddens says he previously looked at opening a restaurant in Brookville in 2009, but finding a good location was a challenge. He thanked the Finch family and the Franklin County Community Foundation for making the identified location available. "This one fits the bill. The community has great people and the town has been great working with us. We have good neighbors in IGA and Ford all through there. Everybody has been great so far. We can't complain one bit," said Deddens.   Original story published Thursday, November 30: Photo courtesy of Dave Deddens. Dearborn County couple Dave and Michelle Deddens have announced their plans to open a new Skyline Chili restaurant in the small town in 2018. The new restaurant will be located at the former Goldfinch Restaurant on U.S. 52/Main Street. A Facebook post did not specify a potential opening date. The Deddens currently own and operate the Skyline Chili in St. Leon, which opened in 2015. They also owned the former Christina’s Restaurant off of I-74 in St. Leon until it closed in 2004. The couple are also actively engaged in the community, supporting various causes and school athletic programs. Dave and Michelle Deddens.
