A semi plunged off an Interstate 71 bridge in Gallatin County Friday morning.

One lane of southbound Interstate 71 has reopened after an earlier semi truck accident near the 63 mile marker in Gallatin County.
The driver of the semi died when the cab of the truck went over an interstate overpass and crashed onto a road below at about 8:30 a.m. Friday. The trailer remained on the highway.
Kentucky State Police are investigating the accident. They have not released the name of the victim.

(Gallatin County, Ky.) – A fatal truck crash has closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 71 in Gallatin County.
Kentucky State Police say a semi truck struck part of the interstate bridge near the 63 mile marker sometime prior to 8:30 a.m. Friday. The truck and trailer became separated during the impact.
The truck plunged off the bridge onto Taperingpoint Road below. The driver, who has not been identified, was killed.
The trailer remained on the interstate, blocking the southbound lanes.
Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
Traffic on I-71 southbound is being rerouted around the accident scene.
