By Travis Thayer Update published Wednesday, October 19 at 6:02 a.m.: Deputies are investigating after a woman was killed in an accident on Interstate 275 near the Indiana-Ohio state line. Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies say Catherine Taske, 84, of Cincinnati, was driving an SUV westbound in Whitewater Township when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road near Stephens Road overpass and struck a bridge pier at around 4:00 p.m. Taske was trapped inside the vehicle for about 30 minutes before firefighters freed her. Taske was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. Deputies do not believe alcohol, drugs, or speed played any part in the crash. The crash shut down I-275 westbound for much of the afternoon, causing a miles-long backup on the interstate to the Interstate 74 ramps. The crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit. Original story published Tuesday, October 18 at 4:37 p.m.: (Hamilton County, Oh.) - AirCare has been called to the scene of a wreck on Interstate 275 near the Ohio-Indiana state line. The accident was reported around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday on southbound Interstate 275 near Kilby Road. According to Hamilton County 911, southbound I-275 is closed before the Indiana state line to land AirCare.
