Vehicle Accident Damages Utility Pole In Aurora; Emergency Outage Called

Customers in downtown Aurora will be without power for a couple hours Monday night.

(Aurora, Ind.) – An emergency power outage is being planned tonight in downtown Aurora.

Early Monday morning, a vehicle accident damaged a utility pole on George Street. Due to the damage, Duke Energy has scheduled an emergency power outage in order to temporarily repair the damaged pole.

Approximately 325 customers in downtown Aurora will be without electric service from 9:00-11:00 p.m. while crews work to temporarily secure the pole.

A longer power outage may be needed to replace the pole. The time and date have yet to be determined.

“Though it’s very unlikely these repairs will result in any direct interactions, please know that our crews are practicing strict social distancing. For their well-being and yours, we ask that all customers maintain a safe distance of at least six feet from our field personnel,” Duke Energy said in a news release Monday.

Anyone with questions about the utility work, should contact Duke Energy’s Customer Care Center at 1-800-521-2232.
