(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Rising Sun woman was arrested after a motorist allegedly witnessed her injecting herself with heroin while driving on Interstate 275 in Dearborn County. A witness called police after seeing the drug activity on the highway at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in court. The caller told dispatchers she observed a female driver shooting up or injecting drugs while driving. Minutes after the call, a Lawrenceburg Police officer stopped a car matching the description on U.S. 50. It was driven by 23-year-old Brittany Nicole Aldred. Officers say they found heroin, a tourniquet, and marijuana in Aldred’s vehicle. They also observed fresh track marks on her arms. An officer noticed that Aldred's pants zipper was undone and asked if she had concealed anything there. She removed a syringe containing a liquid from her pants. During questioning, Aldred allegdly admitted to receiving a sample of heroin in Cincinnati and injecting it while driving near the Lawrenceburg exit on I-275. Aldred was arrested on charges of Possession of a Narcotic Drug (level 6 felony), Possession of a Syringe (level 6 felony), Possession of Marijuana (class B misdemeanor), Possession of Paraphernalia (class C misdemeanor) and Maintaining a Common Nuisance (level 6 felony). She is jailed at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on a $25,000 cash only bond. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for October 3 and a jury trial is currently slated for February 12, 2018.
