(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Ashton Craig is officially a Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The Lawrenceburg High School football star put pen to paper on Wednesday, signing his letter of intent on the first day of the early signing period for Class of 2022 recruits.

Some probably wondered if Craig might consider other schools following the recent departure of now former Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, who left to become the new head coach at LSU.

But, Craig held firm in his verbal commitment, sticking with Notre Dame and their new head coach Marcus Freeman.

According to 247Sports, Craig's primary recruiter was Jeff Quinn, who will be entering his fifth season as offensive line coach in 2022. He was also heavily recruited by former Notre Dame quarterback and current offensive coordinator Tommy Rees.

Craig, a four-star recruit, is listed as the 26th best offensive tackle recruit in the country. As a senior, Craig earned his way onto the IFCA Top 50 All-State Team and was named Mr. Football Offensive Line

He is expected to move to center upon arriving in South Bend.

Notre Dame currently ranks 7th for the best 2022 recruiting class behind Georgia, Texas A&M, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, and Texas.
