(Batesville, Ind.) - A familiar face has been named the new head volleyball coach at Batesville High School.
Diane Dierckman will begin her second stint as Bulldogs head coach this fall. Dierckman began her BHS coaching career in 2000. During her nine years as head coach, her teams went 229-73 winning won four sectional titles, eight EIAC championships, and nine Ripley County titles.
In recent times, Dierckman has served as an assistant coach.
“I am excited to have Diane take on this leadership role,” BHS athletic director Bryan Helvie said. “Her past success leading the BHS volleyball program speaks for itself. “Her enthusiasm for BHS volleyball and confidence in our student-athletes is a great foundation for the program moving forward,” he added.
“The volleyball program is fortunate to have a person and coach like Diane Dierckman leading it,” BHS Principal Andy Allen said. “She will bring energy to the program and draw on her coaching background to build on the team’s most recent success.”
Dierckman is a 1994 graduate of then Thomas More College. She was a member of the volleyball team from 1990-93 and appeared in the NCAA Division III tournament in 1991 and 1992.
“I am grateful and excited to have this opportunity to return to BHS as head volleyball coach and lead such a talented group of athletes,” Dierckman commented. “I look forward to creating a culture that will inspire and empower each athlete to reach their full potential both on and off the court.”
